Vintage “Space Mission” armchair in a postmodern style, designed by the studio Pierre Mazairac and Karel Boonzaaijer & Partners, 1988. The armchair features a plywood seat and backrest supported by a futuristic black metal frame, with blue upholstered cushions. The backrest features a beautiful graphic design of twisted diamonds in light and dark wood.

This armchair is from the unconventional and non-commercial collection released since 1988 under the name FUNiture. The influence of the Italian Memphis group shifted their furniture design style from functionalist to postmodernist. The collection has been widely discussed both nationally and internationally. The Space Mission has been described as a piece of furniture of “historical importance” and with “high design value” (source: Wikipedia).

Condition: good to very good vintage condition. The fabric upholstery is neat. The padding is firm and supple. The woodwork is intact.

Vintage ‘Space Mission’ fauteuil in Postmoderne stijl ontworpen door studio Pierre Mazairac en Karel Boonzaaijer & Partners, 1988. De fauteuil heeft een multiplex zitting en rugleuning steunend op een zwart metalen futuristisch frame, voorzien van blauw gestoffeerde kussens. De rugleuning heeft een prachtig grafisch design van verdraaide ruiten in licht en donker hout. Deze fauteuil is uit de niet conventionele en niet commerciële collectie die vanaf 1988 onder de collectie genaamd FUNiture is uitgebracht. De invloed van de Italiaanse Memphis groep heeft hun meubelvormgeving stijl verschoven van functionalistisch naar postmodernistisch. De collectie is nationaal en internationaal veel besproken geweest. De Space Mission is een meubel van “Historisch belang” en met “veel designwaarde” genoemd (bron Wikipedia). Goede tot zeer goede vintage conditie. De stoffen bekleding is netjes. De vulling is stevig en soepel. Houtwerk is gaaf. Afmetingen: breed 65 cm, diep 79 cm, hoogte 78 cm, zithoogte 37 cm.
