Unieke houten kledingkast en/of halkast in Art Nouveau stijl, 1930
Unique wooden so-called “gentlemen’s wardrobe” in a mix of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles from the 1930s. The dark brown stained wardrobe has a stylish presentation thanks to the ornately decorated double doors based on natural forms. The wardrobe is divided into a storage section and a hanging section with a pull-out rail. The bottom of the wardrobe offers space for storing several pairs of shoes. The wardrobe has beautifully decorated handles and rounded corners at the top. A beautiful piece of recent antique furniture.
Condition: Good to very good vintage condition. Signs of wear consistent with age.

Men’s wardrobes, designed with special compartments for men’s clothing, became popular at the end of the Victorian era (circa 1880) and reached their peak between 1910 and the 1930s. These custom-made, compact wardrobes (often called compactums) were designed to store suits, shirts, hats, and ties in the home.
Art Nouveau (ca. 1890-1910) was an international art movement, also known as Jugendstil, that broke with historical styles and championed a new, organic design language. Its characteristic features are undulating lines, asymmetry, and natural motifs.
Unieke houten zogenaamde “heren kledingkast” in een mix van Art Nouveau- en Art Deco stijl uit de periode 1930. De donker bruin gebeitste kast heeft een stijlvolle presentatie door de sierlijk gedecoreerde dubbele deur gebaseerd op natuurlijke vormen. De kast is opgedeeld in een aflegdeel en een hangdeel met uittrekbare rail. Onder in de kast is ruimte voor het opbergen van een aantal paar schoenen. De kast heeft mooie gedecoreerde handgrepen en afgeronde hoeken aan de bovenzijde. Mooi stukje jong antiek. Art Nouveau (ca. 1890-1910) was een internationale kunststroming, ook bekend als Jugendstil, die brak met historische stijlen en opkwam voor een nieuwe, organische vormentaal. Kenmerkend zijn golvende lijnen, asymmetrie en natuurmotieven. Herenkledingkasten, ontworpen met speciale compartimenten voor herenkleding, werden populair aan het einde van het Victoriaanse tijdperk (circa 1880) en bereikten een hoogtepunt tussen 1910 en de jaren 1930. Deze op maat gemaakte, compacte kasten (vaak compactums genoemd) zijn ontworpen om pakken, overhemden, hoeden en dassen in huis op te bergen. Goede tot zeer goede vintage conditie.
