Rare patchwork leather 2-seater sofa by Gerard van den berg for Montis, 1970s Netherlands / zeldzame 2-persoons sofa ontworpen door Gerard van den berg voor Montis, 1970 Nederland. De patchwork loungebank is geheel bekleed met cognac kleurig leer. De rugleuningen en rechter armleuning zijn flexibel voor een nog beter zit en ligcomfort. Je ziet bij deze sofa de overeenkomsten met de klassieke van den Berg sofa “The Rock”.
Conditie: goede vintage conditie. Het leer heeft veel gebruiksporen wat de bank een mooie patina geeft (kijk voor een compleet beeld ook de foto’s). Kleine reparatie aan het leer aan de zitting, middenvoor. De sofa heeft een lage zit.
Afmetingen: breed 160 cm, diep 90 cm, hoogte 90 cm, zithoogte 33-34 cm.

Rare 2-person sofa designed by Gerard van den Berg for Montis, 1970 Netherlands. The patchwork lounge sofa is fully upholstered with cognac-colored leather. The backrests and right armrest are flexible for even better sitting and lying comfort. With this sofa you can see the similarities with the classic van den Berg sofa “The Rock”. Good vintage condition. The leather has many signs of wear, which gives the sofa a beautiful patina (see the photos for a complete picture). Small repair to the leather on the seat, center front. The sofa has a low seat.

This beechwood armchair in the Amsterdam School style is a beautiful combination of traditional craftsmanship and modernist design principles. A beautiful Japanese wooden mobile Tansu (箪笥) cabinet from the Meiji period, circa 1900, with a beautiful patina. The cabinet was primarily used for storing clothing, especially kimonos. This functional approach is clearly reflected in the metal corner protectors and the lockable drawers and sliding doors. This cabinet has several wide drawers, two sliding doors, and two “hidden” drawers behind a door. A nice detail is the cast iron supports on the sides of the cabinet. More interesting information about this characteristic piece of furniture with a rich history can be found on Wikipedia/Tansu, among other places. Beautiful cabinet in a modern interior or brutalist architecture.
