Exceptional fruitwood dining table set in ART DECO style, 1980s

One of a kind? Rare fruitwood (cherry or mahogany) dining table set in a beautiful Art Deco style. The chairs show similarities to the Knoll chair 810A by Richard Meier 1982. The table appears to be inspired by the Cassina DS1 table by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The set could have been manufactured by Schuitema from the well-known Decoforma collection.

The chairs feature a backrest of curved slats, a red leather seat, and curved sled legs (barrel chair). The table has an openwork architectural central column of curved slats (grid design), which is a typical characteristic of Frits Schuitema. The wooden central column stands on a heavy black cast iron base, characteristic of Schuitema’s luxurious Art Deco style (heavy). The oval tabletop has a beautiful wood grain pattern and a lovely relief at the table edge. This detail is also reflected in the cast iron base. Special set with beautiful, well-executed detailing.

This majestic Brutalist-style table has a curved oak frame and stands on four beautifully shaped legs. The tabletop is inlaid with handmade ceramic tiles in a colorful, geometric pattern, resulting in a beautiful, organic aesthetic. Beautiful Danish craftsmanship, marked with a sticker and from first owner.

Tue Poulsen (1939–2026) was a prominent Danish ceramicist and designer, widely recognized for his brutalist stoneware and mid-century modern furniture. Over a career spanning more than 60 years, he blended organic textures with architectural forms, becoming a staple of Danish design history.
